Born: (Unknown) Died: Lincoln County/now
Catawba County, NC |
|
The Robinson Family of eastern Catawba County are the
descendants of Isaac Robinson. The first written
record of this Robinson family was written by W. A. Day, a
great-grandson of Isaac Robinson and a grandson of John
Robinson (the son of Isaac Robinson), which follows: |

Record of the Robinson Family
Written by W.A. Day
Sherrills Ford, North Carolina |
|
My great
grandfather (was) Isaac Robinson. |
|
My great
grandfather, Isaac Robinson's mother, was a Perkins, a
sister of Adam Perkins. Isaac Robinson
married a Simpson, a sister of William Simpson,
who was a Whig soldier in the Revolutionary War, and
Reuben Simpson who was a Tory. |
|
At the battle of
Ramseur's Mill, Reuben was in the battle with the
Tories. William (a Whig) was off on a
scouting expedition and when he heard the guns open, he
ran his horse down trying to reach the field before the
fight was over, to kill his brother, Reuben. His
horse fell before reaching the field and he set off on
foot at top of his speed; but when he reached the field,
the fight was over and the Tories gone. |
|
Reuben owned a
large plantation on the Catawba River and when the war
was over, he was forced to leave the country.
These men were (Isaac Robinson's brothers-in-law and)
John Robinson's uncles. |
|
Isaac Robinson had
an uncle named Adam (Perkins) and when
(Isaac's son) John was a boy, the Robinsons moved to
Haywood County, NC. Adam Perkins was an old
bachelor, living by himself and when the (Isaac)
Robinsons all moved off to Haywood County, he begged
Isaac Robinson, who was his nephew, to let John, then a
boy, stay and live with him. His (John's)
father (Isaac) left him in the old man's care and
when he (John) grew up and married, the old man
told him to bring his wife there for that was his home.
When Adam Perkins died at a very old age, about 1798, he
gave him (John Robinson) the plantation on which
he lived. |

Records seem to indicate that Isaac Robinson and Katherine
Perkins had at least three children. |

The land records
of Haywood County from the year 1809 show that Isaac
Robinson, Sr. deeded land to Isaac Robinson, Jr.,
John Robinson, Aaron Robinson, William
Robinson and Richard Robinson. We
believe these men could be John Robinson's brothers.
John speaks of his plantation in Haywood County in his
will. Uncle Billy Day (W.A. Day) tells in his
writings of John going to help his father in Haywood
County in about 1808. |

|
Isaac and Katherine Perkins Robinson both died in
Lincoln/Catawba County, NC. Catawba County was formed from
the upper part of Lincoln County, NC, in 1842. |
